ARQUE Advocaten was founded in 2024 by Simone Poot and Landine Varela. They met during the graduation ceremony of the Master’s degree in Business Law that they both completed at Erasmus University Rotterdam (2012). It was a feast of recognition: both grew up in (the area around) Rotterdam, with roots on a tropical island and both a passion for intellectual property law.

They then each went their own but similar path: both Landine and Simone were sworn in as lawyers in Amsterdam in 2014, after which they both worked as salaried lawyers for 8 years. Not at the same firm, but both with a clear focus on intellectual property law.

In 2023, their paths crossed again: Landine had started her own business a year earlier and Simone was at a crossroads in her career. It did not take long before the idea of ​​joining forces and setting up their own law firm was discussed. It was soon “actions speak louder than words”, and in May 2024 ARQUE Advocaten was a fact.

The two founders are well attuned to each other, complement each other and share the drive to achieve the best result for their clients. They are a powerhouse team with a practical attitude.
